After getting zero in the first version of week 1 documentation and rains of tears by me, I had to start again and try to change the criteria that I bypass the documentation!
Let's start
That Agile thing is brand new for me, although I spent 7 weeks trying to figure it out, I did not succeed to understand!
Be patient and keep up the pace with me
I started with rewatching the recorded lecture on Agile, and I did not figure out the idea.
I may be just stupid stubborn.
Anyway, I came up with these conclusions
Agile is based on sprints or milestones
Each milestone is based on accomplishing some features
Each feature describes some End-user needs such as look, touch, and ease of use
Each milestone must come out with a ready and finished product
Each feature contains whatever processes needed for it to be finished such as design or coding or fabrication
So let's start
Go to the link below and enjoy
First thing I created 3 milestones for the 3 sprints
3 is enough I think as we have only 2 sprints on our group project
Each sprint must have a goal to achieve, I made the goal for the first is the neat look and just powering it up,
for the second one, I will make it smart by connecting to devices and receive sensors' readings and act upon that,
and for the last one, I will make it interact with the user, as in HER movie.
One of my friends asked me to make him a moon lamp once, he wanted it Cheap, Good looking, Easy to use .and low weight.
I just kept thinking about it but I could not figure a way to make one at low cost, that was before I just enter the diploma!
So It will be stupid to start from zero right? The reasonable action is to buy one from the market and guess how they fabricated it!
So let's summarize what we will do into points
Buy One!
Tear it down carefully
examine each part
put a functional model
replicate using AGILE methodology
Sell ONE!
To buy ONE we search on SOUQ.com
We will find many, we choose the cheapest and highest rating
For Tearing we will need some equipment like
Dremel rotary mini craft
screwdrivers
Precision Craft Knife Cutter
The base was wood and glued together already separated
Then the moon ball with the wire out and a remote and power adaptor plus a small strange box!
The next step was to open the mysterious ball!
We noticed a strange line and we assumed it was glued from there
Using the rotary tool we slowly managed to cut there neatly but we were smelling a strange smell out of cutting (toxic!!!)
Then we looked inside and the we found led pieces connected together
then we opened that strange box with a screwdriver finding this beautiful PCB
Examining its components we could finally generate our BOM!
Well that was simple, Components are
- Moon shape (Abs plastic I think)
- Wood 20*20mm bar by 3 parts of 6cm and 3 of 10.5cm length
- Adaptor 12V
- IR sensor for receiving orders out of the remote
- IR remote control
- 4 pieces of LED 8cm each
- PCB board that consists of:
Microcontroller chip
EEPROM chip to save the last state before shutting it down
Resistance
Zener diode to cut to 5v
3 pieces of transistors to power the LEDs
Power socket
We sure found another types of this moon lamp like:
rechargable
controlled by mobile phone
touch sensor to control ( touch it to change color or brightness)
We now know the components, but one last step before proceeding on replicating, The functional model!
Well, it is my first time making a functional model so there it is
and a more detailed version:
Of course the one who recieve is the IR sensor and recieve from the IR remote and the one who controls the remote is a YOU
the IR sensors is connected to the BRAIN (the microcontroller) and it takes actions by pre-uploaded code
This was my first trial pdf report where i got 5% in its evaluation!
What I learned this week is...
How moon lamp works and how to tear it down
with BOM and the functional model I now can proceed in replicating and make one for my own!
