Mrs. DePiero is one of our AVID Co-Coordinators and Instructional Mentors at South Salem High School. She works closely with our AVID Elective Teachers, AVID Tutors, and AVID Adminstrators to ensure the best experience for our students. Mrs. DePiero earned her undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of Portland in Secondary Education and Education respectively. When Mrs. DePiero isn't working, she loves to enjoy the company of her husband, two kids, and numerous pets (2 cats, 1 dog, and a lot of fish).

You have perhaps met Mrs. Keck on the "Meet Our Teachers" page. Mrs. Keck wears many hats, but this one is as our second AVID Co-Coordinator. She shares the role with Mrs. DePiero and they divide and conquer all the jobs they are responsible for.
Another Fun Fact: "My husband and I were cruise famous after participating in a competition that was streamed on tv’s throughout the ship. We did not win."
Mrs. Bucholz became involved with AVID at Sprague High School, where she had the opportunity to be an Elective teacher for grades 9-12 while also teaching math. She then became the AVID coordinator for several years before she transitioned to Parrish Middle School. Mrs. Bucholz remained active on the Parrish AVID Site Team and supported AVID at the district level, helping coordinators and providing professional development. Since becoming an Assistant Principal at South she has had an opportunity to be co-AVID administrator, supporting our AVID coordinators, teachers, tutors and students. She loves seeing the AVID-impact on students, watching them progress through the program to reach their goals and the positive impact it has on our whole school and community!
Fun Fact: "I grew up in Ketchikan which is on an island in Southeast Alaska and was on a competitive jump rope team in elementary school."

Fun Fact:
Mrs. Romine has been in the education world since 2008 and has been the Principal at SSHS since the 2022-23 school year.
She graduated with two Bachelor of Science degrees in Education and Human Development and Family Science from Oregon State University. She then earned her Master of Science in Career and Technical Education from Central Washington University.
When Mrs. Romine isn't working to support all our AVID students, she spends time with her husband (who is also an educator), their son, and their dog Champ.
Fun Fact: "I started the AVID program in 2009 at West Salem High School as an AVID Coordinator... been drinking the AVID koolaid ever since. I got the incredible opportunity to be a presenter at AVID National Conference this year. It was awesome!"
