AVID focuses on building community not just within each class, but as a whole Saxon AVID.

We hold friendly competitions between classes, like a balloon stomp as seen in the picture. Any guesses about who won? The freshman, sophomores, juniors, or seniors?

Students work together in small groups, or tutorial groups as we call them, to support each other through questions about school work.

In tutorials we don't give answers, we help the presenter use the information they have to move through their problem.

Students learn to take notes when someone else is talking and writing--a skill that is really useful in life high school and life after high school too!

AVID isn't always all business--team building activities are key to building community and some healthy competition is always good as well.
