My name is Jean and I am a junior at Oregon State University studying human development and family sciences. I’m working towards a policy and advocacy career and currently, I am involved in projects and jobs that allow me to explore the social justice aspect of policy work. My hobbies are skateboarding, journaling, embroidery, and watching thrillers.

Janet Campbell- Firefighter/Paramedic with the City of Salem. I've been a career firefighter for 22 years and a paramedic for 23 years. I've been in emergency services and a firefighter for 24 years total. I have a B.S. Degree in Health & Human Performance: Sports Medicine and an A.A.S. Degree in Emergency Services. I'm married and have two daughters. One is a Freshman at South and one is graduating this year with the class of 2021. My hobbies include: hiking, exercising, traveling, and hanging out with my dog.
Emily Dempster works as counselor and counseling training coordinator at Salem Heights Church. She has worked in higher education in financial aid and as a professor. She loves to help students that are thinking about their futures and has enjoyed volunteering in Aspire for the past 5 years. Emily is married to Ryan, they have a student at SSHS and another in college.
Susan Tanabe has taught in eight schools, high schools and colleges, in Tokyo and Salem, teaching Japanese at South until 2011 and recently retiring from Chemeketa Community College. She and husband Toru, an administrator at Tokyo International University of America, have three children who are all SSHS alumni. Past VP of the American Association of Teachers of Japanese, she now advocates for racial and ethnic equity, prevention of gun violence, volunteers on the Japan American Society of Oregon Education Committee, North Salem HS’s Kawagoe Committee, various committees for Westminster Presbyterian Church, and of course South Salem HS ASPIRE!
