Arrival / Dismissal Procedures

Arrival

SMS arrival time for students will be 7:45 AM during the 2020-2021 school year in order to ensure social distancing upon entering the building. Students should be wearing face coverings as soon as they arrive on campus. Students will utilize different building entrances based on their grade level (see arrival map below) and will enter the building in a single file line to the extent as possible. Students must report to their designated class for attendance at 7:45 AM.

SMS ARRIVAL MAP

PARENT DROP OFF

Parents/guardians are asked to follow all traffic patterns once arriving to campus (BLACK ARROW). Students are to be dropped off at their specified entrance. For safety purposes, please do not allow your child/children to exit your vehicle in an area that is not designated to do so. Once students are on campus they will proceed to their assigned entry point into the building.

  • 5th Grade: enter through the doors far left on the lower level and report directly to their designated class for attendance.

  • 6th Grade: enter through doors at the bottom of the stairs on the lower level and report directly to their designated class for attendance.

  • 7th Grade: enter through the main doors and report directly to their designated class for attendance.

  • 8th Grade: enter through the main doors veer right walking past the Health Room and report directly to their designated class for attendance.


All students are expected to maintain and practice social distancing while reporting to their homeroom and any other time there is a transition.


WALKERS

Students are asked to use crosswalks and sidewalks when arriving on campus. Students are to enter the building at their designated area. Entry points are as follows:

  • 5th Grade: enter through the doors far left on the lower level and report directly to their designated class for attendance.

  • 6th Grade: enter through doors at the bottom of the stairs on the lower level and report directly to their designated class for attendance.

  • 7th Grade: enter through the main doors and report directly to their designated class for attendance.

  • 8th Grade: enter through the main doors veer right walking past the Health Room and report directly to their designated class for attendance.

BUS STUDENTS

Students are required to wear a face covering while at the bus stop and while riding the bus. Students will load the bus from back to front, sitting two to a seat. The bus driver will be assigning seats for the 2020-2021 school year. Students will be entering the doors assigned to them by grade level and proceed to their designated class for attendance.

(Students are not allowed to eat or drink on the bus.)

All students are expected to maintain and practice social distancing while waiting to be dismissed to homeroom.


Dismissal

Salisbury Middle will operate on staggered dismissal times for the 2020-2021 school year. All students will exit the building through their assigned locations. Students are expected to leave campus immediately to ensure social distancing guidelines are maintained. There is to be no congregating on the SMS campus.


parent pick up

Students must exit the building through the same location as they entered the building for arrival and proceed directly to their vehicle. Parents are to adhere to all traffic patterns set forth by SMS.

All students are expected to maintain and practice social distancing during dismissal time.


walkers

Students must exit the building through the same location as they entered the building for arrival and walk directly home.

All students are expected to maintain and practice social distancing during dismissal time.


bus students

Students must exit the building through the same location as they entered the building for arrival and proceed directly to their assigned bus.

Staggered Dismissal Times

Students must wear a face covering at all times while on the bus. Food and drink are not permitted.
