In the event of a school closing, students have the opportunity to engage in activities from home to reinforce their reading, math, and writing skills. Students were given a blue folder on 3/12/20 in a proactive approach of a school closure. Each side of the blue folder has reading and math activities (depending on the student's placement in learning support).
Fun Activities that students can choose to do:
Cincinnati Zoo videos. (Learn about an animal by clicking on the link to the facebook page. If you don't have a facebook page, you would need to create one in order to watch the videos)
At 3p.m. daily, zookeepers show videos and teach about the animal of the day. They also share a connection activity that students can complete and upload to their facebook page! If you can't tune in at 3 p.m., the videos can be found all on their newsfeed page!
Math
Your child’s typical math routine in learning support for one day:
-Review facts 2-3 minutes
-Xtramath.org (takes about 10 minutes)
-20 minutes of independent skills time with skills/IEP goals (example: Fraction packet)
-math meeting 30 min. (review skills of calendar, counting, money, etc.)
-Saxon Math students: math lesson 30 min. lesson/guided practice on side A of worksheets, B is usually homework depending how long the lesson actually took. Sometimes they are assigned side A to complete for homework.
(For these days off, if we are off, they can choose to complete side a or b. If they’d like to do both sides, that’s fine).
-Envision Math students: please complete reteaching side and choose evens or odds on the practice side of the worksheets
