This is the main event. We spend two weeks training and preparing for our field show. We perform it pre-game at away games and at half-time for home games. Themes we have done in the past include Zombies Unleashed (2012), La Musica Caliente (2011), Hot Jams (2010), Spies and Superheros (2009), Falcons Rock On! (2008), Sun & Fun Tour (2007), and Billy Joel (2006). Marching in step, while staying in time, playing music (which had to be memorized), and remembering our sets is somewhat of a challenge, but we manage to put on a good show every year.
Once we retire from the field, we go into the stands. There we play music to support the football team and enliven the game. We endure rain, cold, and heat but continue to play anyway. Some of our stands tunes include: Louie Louie, Iron Man, Bang on the Drum All Day, Get Ready for This, Wipe Out, Mony Mony, Twist and Shout, Bad Romance, and, of course, the Hey Song. We also play our fight song, Notre Dame Victory March, whenever our team comes on the field, scores, or wins a game. We get third quarter off.
It is marching band, so we do some of that, too. In a parade, we march along, do visuals during the cadence, and play our music. It can be quite a feat to march nonstop for an hour or two, while switching between playing music and doing visuals. This year we'll march in the Allentown and Emmaus Halloween parades.
We usually go on a band trip every year. Past trips have included performing at the Chick-fil-A Bowl in Atlanta, GA, the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum in NYC, and entertaining fans at a Philadelphia Soul indoor football game.
