Mr. Tobias is a 1998 graduate from the Pennsylvania State University where he graduated with a degree in Elementary Education. After this, he attended East Stroudsburg University where he achieved a Masters in Elementary Education with a concentration in Social Studies. Upon completion of this program, he became certified in Social Studies. Mr. Tobias continued his education at Cedar Crest College and received a certification in English as a Second Language.
In my spare time, I like to weld and forge, go hiking with my two kids, play with my dog, and visit new places.
The 8th grade Social Studies course covers the Civics and Foundations of Government. We begin the year by discussing Citizenship in regards to rights, responsibilities, and duties. Next, we discuss political parties and how the election process works. We then move into the Foundations of America with Colonial America, The Revolutionary War, Declaration of Independence, Constitution and Bill of Rights. Lastly, we end the year learning about the three branches of National Government, State Government, and Local Government.
