3rd Grade Reading Club

Hello wonderful 3rd grade parents!!

Two of our lovely moms, Katie Madriles (Mila's mom) and Rebecca Mauzey (Amelia's mom) have come up with a brilliant idea:  A 3rd Grade Reading Club!!  Reading Club is an optional activity that will be held after school from 3:00-4:00 about twice a month.  

Here is how it will work:

Each Reading Club Day, the kids involved will meet with Katie and Rebecca for an after school snack and reading time outside here at Salem!  Katie and Rebecca have selected Charlotte's Web for the first book.  Together, the Reading Club will read through this book until they finish, and then a new one will be introduced.  The goal is to help foster a love of reading and book discussion in a group environment, which goes fabulously with our 3rd grade reading curriculum!

If your child would like to join, please fill out this permission slip and have it turned into your teacher by Wednesday, 10/12.  The first meeting will be Friday, 10/14.

Update from 10/14: We finished the first 2 chapters so far, and we can continue to update all the kids in third grade so they can read the book and keep up at home even if they can’t be with us in person.

Hello 3rd graders and parents,

3rd grade reading club has finished our second book of the year! We are now looking for our 3rd and final book selection. We could use some suggestions from you all. Keep in mind the reading level and length of book since we will only have about 7 more days together to complete our book before our end of the year party on 5/26/23!
