Progress on Assignments

Students will complete assignments to show what they know and are able to do. When a student creates evidence to show what they learned, the teacher will give give feedback to the child to show what progress they have made toward meeting the standard.

On this assignment the student created a video to show what they knew about the geography of the United States. The assignment covered SOL 5.1d in English Communicate Ideas to Others and 5.2 Maintain Eye Contact with Listeners as well as US History I Standards for Geography. In this example, the student has met the standards on this assignment and is emerging on 5.2d eye contact. This feedback shows that the student for this assignment has met the standard and is emerging on eye contact. Emerging meaning that they can do this with some help they are starting to learn this but might make a mistake.

On this assignment the student was 5.8 j Use correct spelling of commonly used words, 5.8 f Use commas to indicate interrupters, 5.8 h Edit for fragments and run-on sentences, 5.4 d Identify an author’s use of figurative language. The student met the standard on three standards and one emerging. This student showed understanding by meeting the standard. The student is emerging in using commas as interrupters, meaning they can do this with help or are starting to learn this, but might make a mistake.
