In certain situations, students may apply for enrolment in a unit offered through distance education. DECV courses combine quality print-based, audio and visual learning materials and electronic interaction facilities through the internet. The subject notes provide guidance and assignments for the students to complete and send into the DECV teachers weekly. At some levels, tests are sent to the home school.
In Years 11 – 12 VSV follows the curriculum set by the Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority (VCAA) in our wide range of Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) subjects.
Learning programs are organised into manageable segments. Students are guided through their subjects and given tasks to complete. These tasks are then assessed by teachers and returned with feedback. Individual learning programs are developed where appropriate so that all students, regardless of their age or ability can be engaged and challenged with their learning.
Please visit the VSV website for more information.
As students are frequently doing this subject alone, good independent work habits are essential. This includes being resourceful about locating information.
To be well organised is a key criteria area, as work is sent away weekly.
To seek assistance early when unsure, either via phone or internet, is essential to the maintenance of a good learning relationship with the distance education teacher.
Good literacy skills are fundamental as the work requires extensive reading and writing.
All students enrolling at VSV must have regular and reliable access to a computer or device and the internet.
Students will need to login to VSV Online (learning management system) to communicate and submit work online regularly.
They are expected to participate in multiple areas of the online courses. This includes online lessons, forums and interactive activities.
Here you will find the subjects offered by VSV.
St Augustine's students who undertake distance education will be assisted/mentored by a member of staff. This extra assistance will no doubt be of great benefit for any student who accesses this form of study.
Any student who wishes to study at Virtual Schools Victoria is required to have an extensive consultation with their Teacher Advisor and the VSV Coordinator before enrolment in any units.
