In 2023, the Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning (VCAL) underwent a change of name and a major restructure in curriculum content.
What was formerly known as VCAL has now come under the umbrella of the VCE structure and is now called the Victorian Certificate of Education/Vocational Major (VCEVM).
The VCE Vocational Major and Victorian Pathways Certificate:
The VCE Vocational Major (VCEVM) is a two-year vocational and applied learning program that replaces the Senior and Intermediate VCAL and offer a program that enables successful transitions into apprenticeships, traineeships, further education and training, or directly into employment.
Students will have two VCE enrolment options:
VCE – which includes studies with school-based and external assessments that can provide a study score towards an Australian Tertiary Admissions Rank (ATAR).
VCEVM – which includes studies with school-based assessments that do not provide a study score towards an ATAR.
