TK - Art

Welcome, Little Royals!

Hello families, I am Ms. B, and I want to welcome you to our online St. Thomas Art Class! I hope you've enjoyed your summer while we've been safer-at-home. I am very excited to start the school year with you, and that you're all ready to start this online adventure with me!

All great artists have strong foundations. For our first weeks of school, we will be learning our art class routines and procedures. If you haven't yet bought your art supplies, please make sure you get them as soon as possible! The supply list for art class is available on this site and in the St. Thomas the Apostle Distance Learning Academy Handbook for 2020-2021.

Live art class takes place every Friday from 10:50-11:30 am. If we don't have a live class, you will be able to find your class instructions and references here on the class site. You can also find the Archive of previous assignments on the top-right side of this page.

You can contact me directly by messaging me on ClassDojo or via email at bperez@saintthomasla.org. For a quicker response, please message me between 10:00 am - 4:00 pm. I check my email regularly but will not be replying outside of these office hours.

I can't wait to see you all for our first class! Until then, I leave you with the prayer of Saint Catherine of Bologna, patroness of the arts and artists:

Dear sweet Poor Clare, Saint Catherine of Bologna, so rich in love for Jesus and Mary, you were endowed with great talents by God and you left us most inspiring writings and paintings for wondrous beauty. You did all for God's glory and in this you are a model for all. Make artists learn lessons from you and use their talents to the fullest. Saint Catherine pray for us and all those that invoke thy aid. Amen.

Note: If you have art supplies at home that you can use, please do not buy more. In art class, we try to follow the Catholic Social Teaching theme of Care for God's Creation. This means we actively try to be good stewards of creation by refusing, reducing, reusing, and recycling all the supplies that we use. These actions help us to "protect people and the planet, living our faith in relationship with all of God’s creation."
