Committee Chair Responsibilities

Angel’s Workshop: Responsibilities include coordinating project, materials and volunteers for K-3rd grade Christmas gift to parents. Oversee budget and purchases needed for project. Prepare necessary parts of projects ahead of time. Event usually takes place beginning of December.

Art Support: Three positions, primary, middle, jr. high. These positions will work closely with the art teacher to help hang art work, take photos of the art work and organize extra help in the art room when needed.

Book Fair: Responsibilities include coordinating dates, set up of event, scheduling volunteers. Event takes place usually in November.

Bulletin Boards: Responsible for keeping bulletin boards current with helpful information for school families. Advertise upcoming events. This is a position that goes through the entire school year.

Charity Mania: Responsible for coordinating fundraiser, disseminating information regarding fundraiser, advertising and promoting event, collecting necessary tickets and funds. Event occurs at the end of September-December.

Chess Club: Responsible for being a liaison between the school and the chess club company. Responsible for supplying teachers with a list of chess club attendees. Responsible for having an adult present during the chess club. This position runs from February to April (six weeks).

Consumer Incentives: Responsibilities include collecting necessary documents and submitting all paperwork to companies for incentives. Responsible for collecting box tops and submitting to company for reward. This is a position that runs through the year.

Cooking Club: Responsible for conducting cooking lessons. This position would involve purchasing food and materials for lessons. This position runs once a month through the school year.

Donut Sales: Responsible for organizing dates for donut sales, coordinating volunteers and submitting paperwork to Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable. This position runs through the school year.

Drama Club: Responsible for conducting rehearsals on Sunday evenings for a show produced in the spring. Responsible for giving direction to other parent volunteers to assist with the show production.

Father/Daughter Dance: Responsible for organizing a DJ, photographer, food and decorations for a Father/Daughter Dance. This event usually happens the Saturday after Catholic Schools Week and it happens at school. Also responsible for turning in necessary paperwork to treasurer.

Food for Families: Responsible for organizing meals for families in need (i.e. sickness, Death) and coordinating volunteers. This position runs through the school year.

Hospitality: Responsible for organizing meals for teachers during Parent Teacher conference times. Responsible for coordinating volunteers and food donation if any. This event runs in November and February.

Junior Great Books: Responsible for facilitating discussion of selected reading materials for 3rd, 4th & 5th grade students in a program where students learn to develop ideas, ask questions and think critically. Use facilitator’s guide with suggested lesson plans, discussion guides, and teaching materials to help with story selections, planning and scheduling. This position runs Jan.-March.

Lego Club: Responsible for being a liaison between school and Bricks 4 Kidz representative. Responsible for having an adult present during the Lego club. This position runs for 6 weeks.

Mardi Gras: Responsible coordinating fundraiser, organizing volunteers overseeing committees, setting up event, managing budget and submitting paperwork to Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable. This event occurs in Feb or Mar. The position involves planning prior to event and setting up meeting times months in advance of event.

Mardi Gras Jr. High: Mardi Gras Jr. High Chair Person(s) is in charge of the Friday night before the school Mardi Gras family fun day. This event is for 6th, 7th and 8th grade only. The Chairperson(s) secures the entertainment for Friday night. This committee also works closely with the Mardi Gras Chair Person(s) to coordinate prizes, concessions, and games for Friday night that could work into the main Mardi Gras family day on Saturday. This Chair Person(s) is in charge of all facets of Friday night volunteers and staffing the event.

Mother/Son Event: Responsible for organizing an activity for the mothers and sons of the school. This event is for all ages. This event usually occurs in the spring.

Pencil Pouches: Responsible for managing inventory of pencil pouches and sale at Packet Pick Up. This event occurs on Packet Pick Up Sunday.

Rock The Challenge: Oversee committees for each part of RTC. Determine service projects, sponsorship details, t-shirts, release forms and scheduling with Fit Me Up.

Room Parents & Grade Level Coordinators: Responsible for creating art and library volunteer schedules for the classroom, emailing the parents weekly with updates and reminders, coordinate parent volunteers for field trips, helping the teacher as needed. The grade level coordinator may also need to act as the liaison between room parents and various committee chairpersons, H&S Board and teachers to coordinate any grade level activities on occasion. This position runs through the school year.

School Supply Kits: Responsible for collecting order forms for supply kits, placing order, coordination set up of kits when delivered, organizing volunteers and disbursement of kits. This event occurs in August and orders are taken and placed in April or May of the prior school year.

Shopping Gala: Responsible for overseeing shopping gala held in late November or early December, contacting vendors, signing contracts, managing volunteers, and set up of event. This event occurs on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving; chairperson responsibilities start months ahead for planning.

Smoothie Days: Responsible for choosing smoothie day dates with board and school approval. Responsible for distribution and collection of order forms to jr. high students. Responsible for ordering and distribution of smoothies to students.

Spirit Wear: Responsible for acting as a liaison between Home and School and supplier of spirit wear, conducting sales through the school year and managing inventory. This position is ongoing through the school year.

Teacher Disbursement: This person is responsible for organizing check requests from teachers at the end of the year. Home & School sets a budget for each teacher to purchase necessary items for their classrooms. Teachers order the items and turn in receipts and reimbursement forms to the Teacher Disbursement Chair. The Chair then sets up a spreadsheet and works with the AP Treasurer to reimburse teachers. This usually takes place after Spring Break.

Uniform Resale: Responsible for collecting gently used uniforms, ensuring all items are clean and presentable, conducting sales through the school year, setting up sales and coordinating volunteers. This position is ongoing through the school year. Sales are normally on Packet Pick Up Sunday and again one Sunday in Spring.

Welcoming: Responsible for reaching out to new families to SRS, coordinating volunteers to act as ambassadors for families and organizing any welcoming events. Events will normally occur at the beginning of the school year. Will also provide welcome packets to new families that enter the school throughout the year.
