A little bit about myself and my teaching philosophy.
I am very excited to be teaching second grade at St. Pius Catholic School this year. I strive to have a nurturing classroom where all students can learn and grow while engaging in exciting learning experience. One of the best things about teaching in a Catholic School is how I am able to share my faith with the students each day as they learn about Jesus and spend time in prayer.
I earned a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary and Early Childhood Education from Eastern Michigan University, along with my teaching certification. I also earned a Master’s of Science in Library and Information Science, focusing on service to children and managing a school library from Wayne State University. I strive every year to do professional development to learn something new. For six years I was a Children's Librarian. I have taught Preschool for eight years, second grade for eight years, and first grade for one year. I have been teaching Religious education for over nineteen years and am a certified Catechist with advanced certification.
This is my eighteenth year of teaching in a Catholic school. I attended Catholic school from kindergarten to eighth grade and am a graduate of Allen Park High School. I will always be grateful to my parents for my Catholic education, which formed me into who I am today. I am married, have two children who attend St. Pius and have a Cavapoo named Pearl.
