If you are working rapidly toward eagle and are still missing a particular required badge, the adults of our troop or district will find a counselor to work with you.
All of the badges required for eagle are either available at camp or with one of our adult leaders or parents. Not all of the required badges are offered to our troop at the same time, so you should focus on those that are presented as options now, and wait for the others to come up.
It is possible to earn Eagle by 14, but most scouts who finish the challenge are 16 or 17. There are 13 merit badges required for Eagle, so if scouts choose 2-3 to work on per year, they should have plenty of time to finish. Some are easier for younger scouts to start early; some are more appropriate for upper middle school or high school age youth.
We recommend starting with required badges in First Aid, Citizenship, Swimming, Emergency Preparation, and Environmental Science; others like Camping, Cooking, Communication, Personal Fitness, Personal Management, and Family Life require more initiative and dedication over time and are easier for older scouts to manage and log accomplishments.
