Senior Comprehensive Project Design Ideas:

Affordable housing is something I notice in my community (Austin/ North Lawndale) a lot. Overtime homes have gone abandoned and are boarded up with a red “X” on them. Despite this, I still hear people dream of owning a home or there is talk about rent increasing or mortgage increasing. I personally think a home is secret and a place where so much takes place so I begin to research affordable housing.

I want to research affordable housing and gain information about social and economic experience of renters. I will be doing this through oral interviews because I want to gain a sense of hidden struggle and triumph individuals’ faces as a consequence of the affordable housing crisis.

My target audience will be renters. I feel like they may offer diverse and unique information.

I have started thinking about a few things I hope to learn. hope to learn 1) the important of affordable housing in major cities. 2) Ways renters themselves believe affordable housing should undergo change 3) personalized experience of renters.
