Remote Learning

Week 10 Update

Dear Monarch Families,

I cannot believe we are at the end! It is with tears in my eyes that I'm writing to you to say thank you and goodbye. I'm sad that we could not be together to share smiles and hugs as we enter the summer break. I hope you all have a safe, healthy and restful summer. You are all in my prayers. I look forward to when we can be together again.

Thank you again for all you have done to support remote learning!

Blessings,

Kathy Lee

week 9 update

Dear Monarch Families,

I have so enjoyed the photos of your work - most especially those that have smiling faces in them!! We are in the home stretch.!! Can you believe it? I certainly can't!

My second grade classes are trying something new this week. I am introducing Boom Cards to them. I hope to use them in the future in all my classes and wanted to test them out with the 2nd grade. I hope you enjoy them! They have the ability to track a student's progress. However, this time will be done only as practice so that you do not have to bother logging into the site. The link will take you directly to the practice deck. Because of this I will not see who did the deck or the student's progress. If you think about it, drop me an email to say whether or not your child enjoyed this way of learning.

We will have one week of "work" and then the following week will be just something fun to close out.

Thank you for all you are doing to facilitate your child's learning!

Blessings,

Kathy Lee

week 8 update

Dear Monarch Families,

First I'd like to say thank you for a wonderful Teacher Appreciation Week! The kind messages, photos and ecards were the highlight of each day and touched me deeply. Many brought tears to my eyes. Thank you also for the very generous gift card to Frank's West. My family and I are looking forward to a delicious meal from this talented Monarch family!!

I hope all our mothers enjoyed a happy and blessed Mother's Day! You certainly deserved a restful day under our "new normal" as you work from home while simultaneously implementing lesson plans, all while maintaining the regular running of the household. Thank you for all you do!

Mystery solved!! It was Milla in Mrs. Trout's class under the pseudonym "Dog" that was the French colors champion. Great job Milla!!

This week many classes are brushing up on numbers in their respective languages. We will get to the numbers in second grade after we finish up our animals.

Enjoy your week and find some time to just relax!

Blessings,

Kathy Lee

week 7 update

Dear Monarch Families,

What a glorious weekend!!! I hope you were able to enjoy some of the beautiful weather.

As we roll into our 7th week, I find I am missing everyone more and more! I know you have been working hard in all your classes and rocking this new way of learning.

Congratulations to all that participated in the Kahoot Challenges posted last week! In 4th grade Kate, Becky and George all did very well on the colors challenge. However, it was the student with the nickname "Dog" that beat everyone with a perfect score!!!!! Nicely done!! In 5th grade Emma proved she really knows her numbers! Noah and Avery came in right behind her with very strong performances. Great job!!!

Happy Cinco de Mayo! Grab your tacos and enchiladas on Tuesday and throw yourselves a little fiesta!!

I hope you all have a wonderful week!

Blessings,

Kathy Lee

week 6 update

Dear Monarch Families,

I hope this week finds you all well.

I really enjoyed my time with the 1st and 2nd grade classes when we played Bingo. It was great to see so many of you!! Thank you to all those that were able to make it. I look forward to "Zooming" again with you and the other classes!

I've posted Kahoot challenges for some classes this week. Because I have enabled the "Personalized Learning" setting, they can only be played through the app and not on the web version of Kahoot. If you approve, the app can be downloaded to your device and your child can join the game from there by entering the code posted on in this week's work. Challenges are open until Saturday, May 2nd at 11 p.m. Your child can play as many times as he or she would like up until the Challenge closes to try to increase his or her score.

Take time to enjoy the warm weather we should be getting this week.

Blessings,

Kathy Lee

week 5 update

Dear Monarch Families,

Joyeuses Pâcques and Felices Pascuas ! I hope you all had a relaxing and enjoyable Spring Break and blessed Easter. While it was definitely different than we are accustomed to, it was nice to unwind a bit and remember the blessings we have in our lives.

I hope 4th and 5th grades enjoyed the mini virtual trips I organized for you. I wanted to give you a little break from the ordinary.

I will send a separate email with the link for the 1st and 2nd grade classes to join Farm Animal Bingo.

Keep up the great work and keep smiling!

Blessings,

Kathy Lee

week 4 update

Dear Monarch Families,

I have been so impressed with all the great work you are doing! I appreciate all the effort you are putting into the French and Spanish work I’ve put out for you.

Congratulations are in order for several students!

  • Becky S. in 4th grade came in 1st place for the Quizlet contest I posted on week 2.

  • Frankie B. and George F. came in 2nd and 3rd place in the Quizlet contest.

  • Rennie Y. in 4th grade placed first in the Kahoot challenge.

  • George F. in 4th grade was a very close second in the Kahoot challenge.

Great job everyone!!

I will be scheduling a Zoom bingo session for 1st and 2nd grades. Information on these sessions will come in a separate email with the instructions for joining. Please see your class tab for information and the bingo boards.

From this point forward, I will no longer be adding to your inbox with weekly updates. Mr. Hess has included a link to my website on the school webpage. You find it by:

  1. Go to the orange “Remote Learning” tab at the top of the home page

  2. From there scroll down to the “ECDC and Elementary Weekly Agendas

  3. Click on the “Elem Language” tab

  4. Click on the blue “Elementary Language” link to get to the site

I will continue to update the site weekly. The emails I previously sent will, as always, be posted on the home page of the site.

Continue to be positive and stay healthy. I truly miss all of you!

Blessings,

Kathy Lee

Week 3 update

Dear Monarch Families,

I hope this finds you well and you have some time to enjoy the beautiful weather God has blessed us with today!

I have heard from many of you! I love seeing your work and pictures! From what I have seen, you are doing a great job! Keep it up! Initially this was supposed to be a temporary situation. Now that we are operating like this until the end of the year, I encourage everyone to send pictures of your child’s work.

First and second grade, since we started some new vocabulary last week, keep practicing! Use the puzzles and videos to practice your new words. Next week I will schedule a time to play virtual bingo together. I will post the time in my next update.

I know this has been a challenge for everyone as we adjust to the current situation. Thank you to all of you. I know you are all juggling many things as you try to assist your children with their school work. I appreciate all you have done to facilitate what I’ve provided. As always, if you have any problems or questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to me.

Stay healthy!

Blessings,

Kathy Lee

Week 2 Update

Dear Monarch Families,

You have all been amazing and so supportive! Thank you for taking the time to support your children's learning. I hope they have found this site helpful and fun. I want them to continue to grow and learn in their individual languages.

You are all in my prayers every day. As always, if there is anything I can do to help you or if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Blessings,

Kathy Lee

Dear Monarch Families,

Thank you for your patience and assistance as we all venture into this new territory. I have created this website to consolidate all information for elementary French and Spanish classes. I will email you when information is updated or additional assignments are added. I am hoping that this will help consolidate things for you, especially if you have children in multiple grades. Please use the navigation bar to find your child's grade level.

Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or concerns.

I hope your children will find the following information fun and stimulating over the next few weeks. Any written work will be due when we return to school.

Sincerely,

Sra./Mme. Lee
