1st Graders have Diocesan mandatory homework assigned Mondays - Thursdays. Every night students will write their homework into their Homework book. Please sign the homework book every night on the line provided for you. Homework is included as part of your student's report card grades.
There are three kinds of homework:
1. Math - Students will complete one to two pages of math homework a night. The homework math book stays at home at all times. Please rip out the current page of math homework and place the completed sheet inside the red folder.
2. Word Study - Students will have Word Study (spelling) words almost every week. There are different homework activities for each day of the week. We will practice these in class first.
3. Book in Folder - Almost every Thursday your student will bring home a short book. They should read this every night and complete the page that come with it. The book and the activity pages are always due on Thursdays.
**Homework should not take more than 15-30 minutes. If you find your child is spending more than this amount of time completing homework, please let me know.*
Red Folder- Our red folder goes home every afternoon. Please check the folder nightly and remove everything from the "Keep at Home” side. If you see a form or note on the "Return to School” side, please make sure it comes back to school. The red folder must be sent back to school every morning. Homework for math belongs in the red folder, along with the homework copybook.
