Mountains

 Mount Huascarán

Mount Huascarán is a mountain peak in west-central Peru. The mountain rises to a high 22,205 feet, making it the highest mountain in Peru. Also, it is the 4th highest mountain in South America. It is located east of the town, Yungay. 

 Altough, it is covered with ice and snow, the mountain came from an extinct volcano. The mountain has had a lot of avalanches and earthquakes that caused damage to nearby villages. It is a favorite for tourists and climbers.  



Lakes

Lake Titicaca 

Lake Titicaca is the biggest freshwater lake in South America. This lake is thought to be 1 million years old, making it very ancient. This lake is 3,810 m above sea level. It is located in 2 countries, Peru to the west and Bolivia to the east. In Peru, Lake Titicaca is in the provinces Puno and Huancane.  

The level of the water in the lake changes over seasons. In summer, the level of the lake rises. The average level of the lake is 3.810msnm +- 2.5m. Overall, this astonishing site is a must see.  


Rainforests

The Peruvian Amazon

   The Peruvian Amazon is part of the Amazon. It is the second biggest expanse after the Brazilian. This forest covers about 60% of Peru and has about 12,810 species of animals. Peru's Amazon contains a large number of indegenious commmunities. 

There is an abudance of rain in this forest. Throughout the year, the forest gets about 1,500 to 3,000 mm of rain. Regularly, the temperature in the Peruvian Amazon is around 24 °C or more.
