Facts About the Geography of Jamaica
Jamaica is the third largest of all of the Caribbean Islands and it is the largest English-speaking Island in the Caribbean Sea.
Jamaica has a very mountainous terrain and a limestone plateau covers two thirds of the island.
Jamaica is actually an island that sits on the Caribbean sea and it is 140km south of Cuba and 190km west of Haiti.
There are caverns and caves on the island, along with deep forests and sandy beaches.
Mountains
John Crow Peak
This mountain has a rugged and very large forested mountainous region in south-east Jamaica. It stands at 797ft and there is a trail that leads to the summit. The highest point in the range is a little over 3,750 feet (1,140 m).
Bull Head Mountain
This mountain is located at 3600ft above sea level and the beautiful trail is considered one of the best hiking trails in Jamaica. The mountain got its name from the fact that it looks like the shape of a bull head when seen from sea. The Rio Minho, which is Jamaica’s longest river, started in the Bull Head Mountains and its natural spring water is put into bottles straight from the source.
Blue Mountain Peak
This is the highest mountain in Jamaica and the highest peak in the Caribbean. It stands at 7,402ft. If you were to try to climb this mountain it would take over four hours. The Mountain is known for hiking and camping. The traditional Blue Mountain hike is a 7-mile walk to the peak of the mountain. The well known Blue Mountain Coffee is grown on the mountain. The coffee farming communities of Clavery Cottage and Hagley Gap are located near the peak.

This mountain is located within the region of Spanish Town. It has an elevation of 879 meters and is about 448 meters above sea level. Mount Industry is a mountain that is located in Saint Andrew, Jamaica. The estimate elevation above sea level is 879 meters.
Rivers
Great River
The Great River is one of Jamaica's major rivers and makes up the boundary of the parish of St. James with Westmoreland and Hanover. The beautiful water and green trees are breathtaking.
Rio Cobre
The Rio Cobre is a river in Jamaica. Its source is unknown to people but the clear water is very pretty. It flows to meet the Caribbean Sea in the north west corner of Kingston Harbor.

If you like the beach, you'll love Negril. This town is known for its miles of sandy beaches and beautiful bays along with Skylark which is very famous.
Montego Bay
Montego Bay is mainly known for its beaches and it is a very popular tourist destination. There is an assortment of different cruise ships and resaraunts and hotels.
Ocho Rios
Thought the name means eight rivers this ocean actually only consists of four rivers. A tourist attraction could be the very fine fishing village.
Runaway Bay
This Bay is considered one of the most beautiful on the island. It is known for its coral reef. It has clear blue water and beautiful beaches.
