Surprisingly this is not the first constitution of Ireland and this is actually the second. The present constitution of Ireland replaced the 1922 original constitution. This present constitution was created and enforced on December 29, 1937. This constitution is the longest lasting republican constitution in the European Union. 

Ireland is a Unitary State but, you may be asking yourself what is a Unitary State? A Unitary State is a State of which it is governed by a single person in the central government as the supreme authority.  Ireland is not the only country that has this because 166 out of 193 UN member states.
