Welcome to the 3rd Grade 2025-2026 Musical Journey!
Students should bring the following items
to each music class.
Ipad
sharpened pencil
Music Folder (provided by the school)
Kingsley Recorder (provided by the school)
Be a Recorder Star Book 1 (provided by the school)
Tabletop Music Stand (provided by the school)
Saint Hilary School provides 1 folder, Kingsley Recorder, Be a Recorder Star Book 1 and Tabletop Music Stand to each Third Grade student. There will be a fee for replacements. I suggest keeping these items in their backpack. Take them out at home to practice and then return them to the backpack.
Drop in for extra help if you have any questions or need to make up a missed assignment
Extra Instrumental Help is available at the following days and times.
Thursdays: morning recess 10:16-10:31; lunch 12:15-12:35; After school help available by appointment
Fridays: 7:30-7:50 AM; morning recess 10:16-10:31; lunch 12:15-12:35

The students completed page 10, a music theory review, in the Be a Recorder Star Book. They played through all of the songs up through page 8 on their recorders. The students practiced many songs as they are preparing for several upcoming presentations.
Review all of the recorder songs that we have learned up through page 8.
Practice singing your songs listed under Songs to Memorize.

Students were assessed on playing Hot Cross Buns. They had written homework in the Be a Recorder Star Book. Rolling Merrily.
Recorder
Practice page 8 in your Be a Recorder Star Book. You already know the three notes: B - Thumb 1, A - Thumb 1, 2 and G - Thumb 1, 2, 3.
Singing
Memorize Holly Jolly Christmas, Jingle Jive and Yo Tengo Un Amigo Que Me Ama.

Practice and complete page 7. Make sure to fill in the measures on Rolling Merrily on page 7.
PRACTICE UP THROUGH PAGE 7 OF YOUR BE A RECORDER STAR BOOK.
Students received their recorder in a recorder case, their Be a Recorder Star book and their table top music stand. They learned the notes B, A and G and looked over Hot Cross Buns.

We practiced Hot Cross Buns, Au Claire de la Lune and Rolling Merrily on the recorder. We sang Yo Tengo Un Amigo Que Me Amo.
POSTED ON AUGUST 29TH Read pages 2 and 3 of your Be a Recorder Star Book.
Practice pages 4 and 6.
Make sure to complete Air Control on Page 6 and fill in the blanks in your book with a pencil. We do not use pen in music class, only pencils.
