I am proud to be the new Director of Reading and Literacy Programs at Saint Hilary School. With 17 years of classroom teaching experience, including seven years at SHS, I have worked with students from TK/K through 4th grade in various capacities. My dedication to education is reflected in my recent academic achievements, having completed a Master’s Degree in Education with a specialization in Literacy from Loyola Marymount University in May 2024. I am currently pursuing an additional graduate program in Reading and Literacy at Cal State East Bay, which I will complete in May 2025.
My literacy and intervention strategies are grounded in the Science of Reading. I have also received intensive training from the Institute for Multi-Sensory Education (IMSE). IMSE’s approach, rooted in the Orton-Gillingham methodology, emphasizes explicit, direct, sequential, systematic, and multi-sensory instruction to teach reading. This method is particularly effective for all students and essential for those with dyslexia or other learning differences.
In my new role, I will also oversee the Endeavor Enrichment program for Grades 1 - 4, collaborating closely with Ms. Jessica Zeidler to implement the program. My personal connection to the school is strong, as both my children are alumni of SHS and currently attend Marin Catholic High School. Additionally, I am a proud product of the San Francisco Archdiocese, having received a Catholic education in school from kindergarten through my senior year of high school.
With my comprehensive experience and dedication to literacy education, I am excited to support and enhance the learning experiences of SHS students.
