All About Mrs. Perkins

I am blessed to have been born and raised in Sonoma Valley.  I attended Saint Francis Solano School and I am an alumni of Sonoma Valley High School.  I graduated with an Interdisciplinary Arts and Sciences degree from the University of Washington,  completed my ELA (English Learner) teaching credential at Sonoma State University and recently earned a Masters of Arts in Education with a focus on Educational Administration from Concordia University Irvine.

It is with great excitement that I look forward to teaching Fourth Grade in the upcoming school year.  My foundation as a teacher started in fourth grade while completing internship hours in preparation for teacher credentialing.  I went on to teach first grade for seven years at St. Francis Solano School followed by middle school science with a focus on earth science, biology and physics.  Most recently I have had the opportunity to serve as Vice Principal,  fourth grade homeroom and leadership moderator.

I love school!  Being an educator in a multi-subject classroom, teaching all curriculum, to brilliant young minds brings me great joy.  I wake up each morning excited to spend my day learning with students.  I look forward to teaching Math, California History, Science, Reading and Writing.  Each and every day we collaborate, read, write, calculate, hypothesize, make predictions, summarize and present.  We use our iPads to create, practice, and record our thoughts.  We are active learners and I am blessed to spend my days teaching brilliant young minds.

What do I do when I'm not at school?  I love spending time with my family and friends.  My daughters are a UCLA alumna and a sophomore at St. Mary's College.  I walk, bike, and hike as often as possible.  I love music!  I always have music playing and I am constantly dancing to the beat!  I also love to read!  My favorite books to read are historical fiction.

I look forward to learning all about you.
