3rd Grade Photographs Inspired by Cindy Sherman

Students learned about Cindy Sherman's photography. Cindy Sherman uses herself in the subject in all her photos, but changes her hair, make up and clothing to create a persona completely different than her own. The 3rd Grade used props from the art closet to create characters. Students worked in groups of three, a photographer, director, and model. Students used the SnapSeed app to practice photo editing to create their own filters.

Students learned about symmetry and repetition with the iOrnament app. Students learned that math can connect with art through tessellated images. This lesson helped us segway into creating tracers for our M.C. Escher project.

8th Grade Photography:

Students took their art outside for a composition led project. Students focused on using their viewfinder to compose an interesting image. They were challenged to look at everyday objects in a new way. After taking the photos, students edited their images with the Snapseed app.
