The journey of becoming a connected educator involved developing a dynamic professional learning network (PLN) and began when my classmates and I collaboratively annotated the National Educational Technology Plan using the chrome extension hypothes.is. I expanded my professional learning network by creating a Twitter account, @svallechem, and I recently tweeted at the National Science Teachers convention. I try to attend a Twitterchat once a week and for now I am mostly lurking but as I become more familiar with the rapid exchange of ideas I hope to become an active participant. I am using Pearltrees as a collaborative curation tool to organize and explore technology and teaching resources. I started a blog to reflect on my progress as a connected educator and reflected on the importance of both teaching and modeling digital citizenship to students.
