Social Studies "Create a Business" Project!
Each student was given a budget of $10.00 to create their own business selling either a service or a good. Students were encouraged to become young entrepreneurs and make a product they would have to "sell" to their class. They all needed to calculate expenses such as resources, rent (classroom space), electricity (classroom lights), and labor (their own efforts to make product) when making final decisions. These are all factors of production that real life businesses owners do each day. They were given a list of resources that they would be able to "purchase" to help make their good or service come to life. Technology was incorporated by visual designs created to market their product! While presenting, each group was prompted questions related to our economics lesson in the textbook (supply and demand, profit margins, marketing, goods and services). At the end of the sales pitches (presentations), the class got to vote for which product they would be most likely to buy!
