Welcome to Grade Two, Parents and Students!
Here is some information about our class and goals for the year. Information about our schedule and specials can be found on the sidebar or by clicking here. A monthly newsletter will be updated beginning after Back-to-School Night.
All assignments, messages, tests, and announcements will be written in your student's homework journal and posted on this website. Please check the homework journal/planner daily and initial/sign.
Class overview
Math: Focus is on math fluency and operations, algebraic concepts, place value, data collection & analysis. Word problems are studied as well as concepts of geometry, time & money.
English Language Arts (ELA): Our focus is on reading, writing, phonics, spelling, grammar, & vocabulary. A writing response journal is used in ELA.
Social Studies & Science: Focus is on community, civics, culture, geography, natural resources, ecosystems, and states of matter.
Religion: Our focus is on learning to be disciples of Christ by living lives of virtue and strengthening our faith through prayer, service, and knowledge of our faith. Special emphasis is placed on preparation for the Sacraments of Reconciliation (February) and First Eucharist (May).
Writing across the curriculum is a school wide focus, meaning it will be applied in math, religion, social studies & science.
About me
Mrs. Stephanie Wynn (nee Lytle) is a native of West Chester and was a Saint Agnes student (Class of 2008). She has many wonderful memories of her time here and is a big proponent of the value that a Catholic education can bring. She graduated second in her class from Bishop Shanahan High School in 2012 and attended Princeton University where she participated in the Teacher Preparation program alongside studies in Spanish and Portuguese Languages and Cultures. While there she danced with a Mexican folk dance troupe, did service work as part of the Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority (Zeta Phi Chapter), and participated internationally as a member of the Model United Nations team. She conducted her student teaching with a second grade class in a dual language immersion school in Princeton; and exposure to different languages and appreciation of distinct heritages is a very important part of her mission as an educator.
Besides her own faith formation, she has worked in the Saint Agnes Religious Education office, served as a kindergarten catechist, served as an altar server, lector, and Eucharitistic minister at various times, and has been involved with assisting Saint Agnes’ Youth Group for over seven years now (unfortunately on hiatus due to Covid).
In her free time she enjoys long walks with her husband and her family’s dog Bella, she loves to bake and learn new recipes, and is a big fan of fantasy and science fiction book series and movies. She loves learning new languages and traveling, and speaks Spanish fluently and a fair amount of Portuguese.
