Retreat
First Communion Retreat Saturday April 23rd from 8:30am to 12:30pm.
A parent is required to attend with their child for the duration of the retreat.
Schedule:
8:30 AM – Parents and Children arrive for registration in the school cafeteria
8:45 AM - Move to the Chapel
10:00 AM – Early lunch break in the Cafeteria (Pizza and wraps will be provided- gluten free and vegetarian options available)
10:30 AM – Parents return to the Chapel & Children remain in the cafeteria
11:00 AM – Children return to Chapel ½ hour of Adoration and Benediction
12:30 PM – Retreat Ends
School Specific
Thursday January 28th from 1:15 PM -2:30 PM we will be having a special activity for the second grade in the cafeteria where we will be making bread and a First Communion banner. Mrs. Caffrey and I will be leading the activities but we could really use some parent help to operate the conventional oven, setup, cleanup, provide a few crafting supplies, and assist with the banner making. Students should have this memorized prior to May 7th:
"Lord, I am not worthy that you should enter under my roof, but only say the word and my soul shall be healed."
The students and I have been practicing receiving Communion in class but you are more than welcome to practice with a wafer at home. Unconsecrated hosts can be purchased at St. Jude shops but a plain cookie/cracker works fine. I ask that you please attend Mass as much as possible with your child between now and their First Communion date so that they are familiar with the form of the Mass and feel confident on their special day and going forward. You are their first teachers in the faith and they will place God as a priority in their life to the degree that you do.

First Communion practice on Wednesday, May 4th, 2022, at 7:00PM.
Everyone arrive at the Church at 7:00PM
First Communion Day
First Holy Communion Saturday, May 7th at 9:30AM.
Children should arrive at the Chapel at 9:00AM – the procession begins promptly at 9:20AM.
Parents arrive at the Upper Church after escorting kids to the chapel.
Attire
Boys- Please wear a black, white, or blue suit and dress shoes. A white dress shirt should be worn and ties should be a solid color if you would like them to wear one. Dress shoes and dress socks should be worn.
Girls- Please wear a white dress with dress shoes. They may wear white socks or stockings. Girls should not wear gloves and should not be carrying anything in their hands (basket, rosary, Bible, flowers, etc.) during the Mass. You are more than welcome to bring a special item for them to pose with after Mass. Girls may wear a modest veil or flowers in their hair.
