¡Hola! Your scholar will know me as Señora M and I teach the intermediate levels of 3-5th as well as K-2. This is my 19th year teaching in the language-immersion classroom. Ten of those years were spent teaching at a British school in Spain where I also attended high school. Learning a language has many benefits including improved decision-making skills, streamlined neural pathways, along with a heightened sense of belonging and compassion. Our students are so lucky to work on their Spanish skills each and every day!
¡Saludos! I'm Ms. Portillo (aka Ms. P.) and I teach the beginner Spanish class.
I'm originally from Alexandria, Virginia, and a proud graduate of Augusta University. This is my fourth year teaching, and I’m currently pursuing my Master of Arts in Teaching at WGU. I love helping students build a strong foundation in Spanish while having fun and exploring new cultures.
Fun fact: I'm left-handed and enjoy running in my free time!
I'm excited to work with your child this year—¡vamos a aprender!
I am a dedicated and passionate Spanish teacher with many years of experience. I hold a Biology degree that I received from the University of South Carolina and currently working on my M.Ed from WGU. As a language teacher, my philosophy centers on the belief that language is more than a set of grammar rules and vocabulary. It is a powerful tool that opens doors to cultural understanding, personal growth, and global communication. My ultimate goal as a Spanish teacher is to inspire and empower my students to become confident, compassionate global citizens.
