This is Mrs. McNeely's third year as director of the dance program at Walden Grove High School.  Her teaching style focuses on fostering creativity, building confidence and instilling a love for dance in all the students.  She has continued to build the program while being committed to creating a positive and inclusive learning environment for all levels of dance.   The dance program has continued to thrive!

BIO:

Mrs. McNeely is a Minnesota native who grew up training and competing in all styles of dance. She went on to receive her BA in Dance from Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University. McNeely worked for theNational Dance Alliance, teaching and judging, for ten years. She has taught studio dance for almost 20 years,focusing on Jazz, Contemporary and Hip Hop styles. She has also coached high school dance teams and all-star teams throughout her career. Mrs. McNeely has been choreographing for studios, dance teams and all-star programs throughout the Midwest for 15 years. She has received various choreography awards and has won many state and national titles, including two State Championships with The PAC Dance Team at Walden Grove!  She was also a member of Exisdanz All Stars, who won two USASF World Hip Hop Championships. She is truly passionate about all aspects of dance and helping dancers find that passion as well. Besides dance, Mrs. McNeely is a certified personal trainer and has spent 10 years teaching high school math and has a Masters Degree in Education.


 

Program Information

The Dance Program at Walden Grove High School is in its 13th year.  The program consists of Beginning, Intermediate and Advanced Dance Classes, as well as the PAC Dance Team.  There are approximately 120 students in the program.  The program focuses on developing a strong dance foundation, with a focus on performance, choreography and teaching.  All classes are exposed to a variety of dance styles and techniques.  As a dancer progresses in the program they will continue to grow as a dancer and a performer.

Walden Grove's Annual Dance Showcase is in April and showcases talent from all across the dance community. All of the students in the dance program perform what they have been working on through out the year.  We are lucky enough to have a sell out crowd at all performances.  We are very thankful for all of our supporters.  The 2023-2024 Showcase "Elements" will be April 19th and 20th.
