Course Description:

The goals of the World History course are to teach students reading, writing, and critical thinking skills and strategies by analyzing geography, economics, government, and history. Course content focuses on The Beginnings of World History to modern Global Interdependence.

About the Teacher:

Jonathan Eves has been teaching since 2005. He has taught social studies in Omaha, NE. Sheboygan, WI and Muscatine, IA at both the middle and high school levels. This is his first year teaching in the Sahuarita Unified School District.

Textbook and Policy:

  • The text book for this course is: World History by Houghton Mifflin Harcourt Publishing Company
  • Students are responsible for the care of any textbooks they use in or out of class. This includes financial responsibility for lost or damaged books
  • Students may check out textbooks from the library for study and makeup work purposes

Required Materials:

  • Students are expected to provide their own pencil, mechanical pencil, or pen with blue or black ink
  • Students are expected to provide their own lined notebook paper
  • Students will need a three ring binder or pocketed folder to store notes and assignments

Be Safe:

  • Always put safety first
  • Practice safe behaviors for yourself and others

Be Ready:

  • Be in the room when the bell rings
  • Bring appropriate materials for each class

Be Respectful:

  • Be polite and respectful to everyone
  • Listen quietly when someone is speaking
  • Conduct yourself in a professional manner

Be Responsible:

  • Use your time wisely
  • Produce quality work and turn it in on time
  • Monitor your learning

Employability Skills:

Each week, if the student has correctly follow the classroom rules, expectations, and procedures (please see above and the syllabus) they will receive employability skills points as part of their grade.

Bell Work:

  • Bell work will be on the board (written or projected)
  • Students should write the question and answer for each day on a sheet of lined paper
  • Bell work for the entire week is due on the Monday of the following week
