Workshop Overview:
This three-day workshop introduces students to intaglio printmaking, a traditional printmaking process in which images are etched or engraved into metal plates and printed using an etching press.
Students will learn a range of professional techniques, including hard ground, soft ground, aquatint, and electrolytic etching, as well as the basics of operating an etching press and printing editions. Over the course of the workshop, students will design, etch, and print several copper plates, which may be printed as individual works or layered to create a final image.
This hands-on experience offers students the opportunity to work with professional tools while developing technical skills that can be applied to printmaking, drawing, and other fine art practices.
