Painting at SHES

In this workshop, young artists will explore the exciting process of painting on canvas! Over several weeks, students will learn how to plan, layer, and build their paintings step by step—just like real painters do. We’ll begin by sketching ideas and practicing techniques on paper, then move to canvas to create more finished works of art.Students will start with a rectangular canvas to learn composition, color mixing, and brush techniques. In the second half of the class, they’ll experiment with a circular canvas, encouraging them to think creatively about shape and design in new ways.Throughout the workshop, students will develop confidence using acrylic paints and experiment with gloss medium to create texture and depth in their work.

Materials include: acrylic paint, gloss medium, brushes, palettes, pencils, erasers, and sketch paper for drafting ideas.By the end of the session, each student will have two beautiful canvas paintings that show their creativity, growing skill, and unique artistic voice!
