Lockers

You are allowed to visit your locker during the passing period. You will have both a PE locker and a regular locker. Lockers are to hold your books and supplies. You will be provided with a locker combination. If you struggle with your locker, teachers will be in the hallway to help you.

Agenda

You will be given an agenda at the beginning of the school year. This will be used as a pass to get in and out of class if you need to go some where, but it also for you to write your homework down for each class period. The agenda is a KEY to success. Parents you should ask for this to come home and students you should fill this out daily.

Morning Routine

In the mornings when you get to school, please go either to the cafeteria to eat breakfast or to the back of the school to wait for morning bell. If it is raining, you will sit in the hallway in front of your locker.

Passing Periods

Passing periods are 3 minutes long. They are to be used to travel from class to class, get your books, or go to the bathroom. We recommend not going to your locker every passing period, plan ahead for walking longer distances between classes.

Physical Education (PE)

You will have PE every day in the middle school. Each day you will change into PE clothes and you will have a locker and locker combination in the locker rooms. The PE clothes should be purple shorts and yellow shirts. You can wear whatever kind, but B&N will usually sell PE sets if interested!

Changing Classes

There are 10 class periods in the middle school. You will change classes each period, and each class will be a different group of people. You will no longer travel around with one group of people.

ELA Block

English Language Arts at the middle school takes two periods per day instead of one, and we call this a block. For example: 3rd hour AND 4th hour you might have ELA block. We have two ELA teachers at each grade level. You will either have Mrs. Maske or Mrs. Brewer as your teacher. One class has them both. When the bell rings in between the two periods, you are free to go get a drink, go to your locker, or use the restroom, but you will just come right back to ELA class for the second part of the block.

Lunch

We are told the middle school has a super yummy lunch! You will be allowed to sit with your friends at lunch. There will be multiple options for lunch each day, including salad bar.

Phones

Cellphones are to be kept in your locker and off all day long. Unless a teacher asks you to bring your cellphone to a classroom for an activity, you are not allowed to have them with you.

Homework

You might have more homework in middle school, but honestly most 6th graders tell us it is not bad at all! Just remember to use your school provided agenda to keep track of assignments and to turn them in in a timely manner. In study hall, teachers will remind you of assignments for all classes.

Sports

6th graders are eligible to play the following school sponsored sports: Cross Country (Fall), Wrestling (Winter), and Track (Fall). Please contact the coaches for more information.
