You are going to go on a mindful walk. You can do this in your yard or around the street.
To work mindfully you need to walk without talking.
See if you can find 3 things that you have not noticed before. When you finish walking you can draw a picture of the three things you noticed on your walk.
Make a gratitude tree that you can display in your room or somewhere else in your house.
You will need-
A small tree branch.
Paper.
Pencils/textas.
Small pegs/paper.
clips/string.
Somewhere to put the tree - a vase or other container.
What to do-
Once you have found your branch cut the paper into the shape of leaves or just into squares or other shapes (it doesn't really matter).
Think of things you are thankful for and write or draw them on the leaves.
Then attach the leaves to the branches of the tree using the paper clips/pegs.
You can keep adding leaves to the tree everyday or whenever you think of something you are grateful for.
You can get the whole family to join in and create a family tree or just do one for yourself.
By having the tree on display, every time you see it, you will be reminded of how lucky you are.
We are going to practise #DIS just like this video.
Think about things at home that you are grateful/thankful for.
Now you can go and point out things in the house you are grateful for and say DIS.
Take photos of them and the things they are pointing to.
Go for a walk in the backyard or in the street and encourage children to point to things they are grateful for and say DIS.
Take photos of them and the things they are pointing to.
NB: Children will really enjoy taking their own photos too.
Once you have all the photos you can use them to create a #DISMOMENT poster/slideshow/book and/or post some to Instagram/Facebook with the #DISMOMENT.
As we grow up, many of us have a teddy, doll, toy or blanket that we absolutely love! You might not use this anymore, but see if you can go and find it. When you find it, give it a hug (if you can’t find it just remember what it was like to hug)!
Now find some pens and a piece of paper. Write or draw a story about your teddy/doll/toy or blanket describing how it gives you comfort when you are with it. Try and show how it makes you feel. Perhaps you can thank it for all the times it has comforted you.
WANT MORE?! Can you try and write a story about your favourite teddy describing all the reasons that you love it so much?
