Following on from the Post Office Horizon inquiry, the Ministry of Justice issued a "Call for Evidence" Consultation on the use of evidence generated by software in criminal proceedings. This closed at 11:59pm on 15 April 2025. Many lawyers and technologists and academics filed evidence in this "Call". I worked in partnership with James Christie and prepared a joint eleven page paper. I consider our joint submission to be a proportionate way of addressing the computer evidence issue and, because our recommendations and proposals for amendment to the law would be self-funded, its' implementation would not be a strain on the public purse. The proposed amendment to the law is very short and pithy. You can download and read our submission here.
