Welcome! I've set up this website for use by you, our incoming class of AP Art and Design, to help you access information about the course and your summer work assignments over the next several months. To learn about how the College Board structures this unique AP course as well as get information about how artwork is assessed, click on the links provided in the Resources tab on this site.
ABOUT YOUR SUMMER WORK:
You have three assignments:
SW 1 will help you familiarize yourself with the resources available to you through the College Boards APAD pages, and provide you with samples of student work.
SW 2 asks you to get outside of yourself as an artist to identify other artists whose work inspires you.
SW 3 requires you to produce art, and as important, to provide evidence of the processes you use to do so.
Details on each assignment are included in the tabbed pages on this site. Read everything that is written for each assignment and email me with questions if anything is not clear. Not following instructions thoroughly for these assignments is an early indicator that you may not be ready to take this course this fall.
By now you have all picked up your supply packet from Room 102 with art materials for use on these assignments if you wish, or you may wish to use your own. Thank you for emailing me if you are making other arrangements to pick up your supply packet.
Be prepared to upload your summer work in our Canvas class once available to you. The physical original artworks should also be at school on the due date.
Again, any time you have any questions about the course or the Summer Work Assignments over the next few months please e-mail me at lcook@saes.org. No question is too small!
And don't wait until the end of August to get started! It will show in your work.
Have fun!
Ms. Cook
