Colour correction
Lee Filters 249 - Quarter Minus Green
When to use it:
If you are dealing with fluorescent lighting, but you need it to look like daylight or tungsten lighting.
How does it work:
Removes unwanted green cast caused by lighting discharge, often present in low quality LEDS and fluorescent lighting.
Lee Filters 244 - Plus Green
When to use it:
If you are dealing with daylight or tungsten lighting, but you need it to look like fluorescent lighting.
How does it work:
Provides a green cast when using daylight and tungsten to make it look more fluorescent.
Lee Filters - Colour Temperature Blue (CTB)
When to use it:
To convert warm lights such a Tungsten (3200k), to daylight (5000-5600k).
How does it work:
- The blue coloured gel helps offset warm tones in the light.
- Full strength CTB (conversion gel) will fully convert a lighting source.
- 1/4, 1/2 strength gels (light balancing gels) are useful for cooling certain light sources, rather than fully converting a lighting source.
Lee Filters - Colour Temperature Orange (CTO)
When to use it:
To convert warm lights such a daylight (5000-5600k), to Tungsten (3200k).
How does it work:
- The orange coloured gel helps offset cool tones in the light.
- Full strength CTO (conversion gel) will fully convert a lighting source.
- 1/4, 1/2 strength gels (light balancing gels) are useful for warming certain light sources, rather than fully converting a lighting source.
Lee Filters - Neutral Density
When to use it:
When you need to reduce exposure by 1 stops without affecting colour balance.
ND filters are mainly used outside to block sunlight, however, can be used indoors if you are using harsh lighting.
How does it work:
Absorbs light evenly across the visual spectrum, resulting in less light entering the lens without compromising the image colour.
Black Wrap
When to use it:
Black wrap is used to control lighting, similar to how you would use a flag or cutter.
Unlike flags and cutters, black wrap is heatproof, so can be attached directly onto the light.
How does it work:
By applying black wrap directly onto the light source, it will reduce light spillage and helps create more direction lighting.
