Create a New Layer

Quickies
(optional) To get cool artistic brushes, download .abr files from the web, then import into the Brushes panel.
Select from a list of character types (see projected list). Give your character a personality, a profession, and a motivation (a story goal). Use shape to convey personality. An animal image may work best for some students.
Pose your character in some kind of action, and showing an attitude.
Create shape variations of any character concept: a square version, a round version, a semi-circle version, a triangle version, and a peanut version.

Intro to Animation in Maya (simple Autodesk intro for beginners)
Make a simple animation using only 2 or 3 keyframes over 100 frames with your basic primitive models, XYZ translation and rotation.
Playblast an avi (please use XVID codec to save space, thank you)
(optional) copy your video from your Maya project default > movies folder to your work folder, with your 2d designs.
