The Homestead Environmental Club is hosting its 12th annual New-to-You Resale Fundraiser on Saturday, March 1, from 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. in Homestead's Victory Gym. For the past 12 years, the Environmental Club has hosted this Resale Fundraiser as an opportunity to give items such as clothes and children's toys a second chance at life, rather than having them end up in a landfill. The proceeds go towards conserving Homestead's beloved Environmental Center and cabin. Our Environmental Center is nearly 30 acres, complete with woods, trails, ponds, and wetlands that require maintenance. This is a fabulous opportunity to sustainably shop while supporting a great cause that benefits our entire community! If you are interested in visiting, please enter through Door #1. Everyone is welcome to attend!
Please join us March 22nd, 2025 for a wonderful night of music at the Homestead Show Choir Cabaret Night! The performance begins at 8:00pm but show up early to participate in the silent auction beginning at 6:00pm! More information regarding the Cabaret Night coming soon on the Homestead Show Choir website under Cabaret Night 2025.

After School Pick-up Changes-- You may now exit campus onto Aboite Center Road
To relieve some of the congestion that occurs on Homestead Road after school, we encourage drivers who are picking up students after school to use the road that goes behind the stadium to exit our campus onto Aboite Center Road, especially if you will be traveling to the west and north after you leave Homestead.
Drivers must pause and wait for the buses to leave the lot before proceeding to Aboite Center Road. (See the note below showing where cars need to stop and wait for the buses to leave.)
Drivers can turn right or left as they exit our campus by driving to Homestead Road.
Parents who use the Spartan Roundabout can continue to exit our campus by driving to Homestead Road. However, if you usually turn left on Homestead Road when you leave, we strongly recommend that you take the back exit instead. The Homestead Road exit only works well for cars that need to turn right by the SACS District Office.

Student Parking Changes
Student Parking has been impacted by the demolition plans. Please watch this Student Parking Video to review where student drivers with parking permits will be allowed to park during the second semester. Please know that because parking will be even more restricted than it has been, student parking rules will be strictly enforced on our campus. Students must have their permit visible in their vehicle and can only park in the areas designated for student parking.
The north side of Homestead High School, which runs along Aboite Center Road, is being torn down. Starting in January, Homestead will no longer have access to the Aboite Center Road staff parking lot. Teachers will now be required to park on the south side of the building in the large lot next to the band practice field. A a result, there will be limited student parking in that lot. Approximately 200 spaces will be set aside for teachers and staff in the former student lot with approximately 100 spaces set aside for students. Student spaces will be south of the red line indicated in the image below. Student parking will remain available at the South Lot and Summit Middle School. There will also be additional spaces for students available adjacent to the community baseball field, on the Summit side of Homestead Road. Students parking in the South Lot will enter Homestead through Door 1. Students parking on the Summit Middle School side of Homestead Road will enter Homestead through Door 33.
Students - make sure your parking tags are displayed and that you are parking in the designated student parking locations. Due to the tight restrictions on parking second semester, the new faculty lot will be monitored, and all cars parking in a designated staff space without a staff parking sticker will be ticketed and/or towed. The new student parking lot will be in the space created by tearing down the old part of Homestead. We will have over 900 student parking spaces once the lot is finished. We hope that the student lot will be available in August 2025. We apologize for this inconvenience. Fortunately, this next phase indicates that we are close to having the building project completed and soon, all of the wonderful new features of the building and campus will be ready for use.
With the new semester, the construction here at Homestead begins to close. Here are some updates coming with the new year:
New Lunch Lines -- Starting in early March, the New "Grab-n'-Go" area will open at the entrance to the Cafeteria allowing students to purchase smaller a la carte items like bottled water, chips, Uncrustable sandwiches, and more. The new food lines in the back of the Cafeteria are set to open later in March which will create more options and shorter lines. Everyone is looking forward to that.
Demolition of the Freshman Academy—The long-awaited demolition is underway. Our Freshman Academy, formerly the old Woodside, is currently being torn down. In its place, a new staff parking lot will be built. Details about our parking changes because of this demolition are under "Parking Changes for Students and Staff" below. This information details how students and staff should proceed with parking for the 2024-2025 spring semester.
New Offices -- Due to the construction, office staff have been without professional offices for awhile. This will change when we return from Winter Break, as new offices will open up for our secretaries, counselors, and administrators. These new offices will be located next to door 33 and are expected to be open for use by January 7th.
Homestead Students and Parents,
Unlike in previous years when yearbooks were ordered at registration, all ordering has moved online this year. The second-tier yearbook pricing of $65 ends on March 26. If you have not yet ordered a yearbook, be sure to do so before pricing increases to $75. Books can be ordered at yearbookforever.com.
If you cannot remember whether one has been ordered, you can email yearbook sponsor Sarah Behrendt at sbehrendt@sacs.k12.in.us.
Unfortunately, Parent Club has seen a significant decrease in funding this year, which puts them thousands of dollars into the red when funding for activities for Homestead staff and students. Please use THIS LINK or scan the QR code on the flyer to donate. Your donations will help the Parent Club fund student scholarships, staff appreciation events, and teacher classroom grants. All donations are greatly appreciated.
