Here are some student athletes who received "Athlete of the Week" recognition through May! These student athletes have displayed outstanding athleticism, improvement, team spirit, and sportsmanship throughout their games.
Clare Burda (Track and Field): Clare set a personal best in the discus of 114’5” at the Pike Invitational to be the event champion. Clare has been the even champion at the Marion Invitational, the Noblesville Miller Invitational, and the Pike Invitational. This is an impressive feat! As a member of the throwing crew, Clare leads by example. She is competitive and assets the standard in the kind treatment of her coaches and teammates. Clare’s improvement as a thrower has been outstanding.
Ryan Parker (Golf): Ryan is our team captain he volunteered to clean the bus after our match because our JV team was very successful. He would not have had to. Also, Ryan showed up with very sick symptoms and decided to tough out a cold day of practice and a cold and windy day at Sandy Pines. He tied for 2nd individually in a field of 16 teams. He never complained about his illness and tried his best. Strong kid.
Macy Parker (Tennis): Macy led the team this season with a record of 10-2 on the season at #1 singles! Her leadership on and off the court are to be admired. Her positive attitude keeps everyone's spirits high.
Bryce Acree (Unified Track and Field): Bryce has worked really hard this season and has been crucial for us in the 400m race and the 4x100m relay. These are two tough races, and he always gives his everything each and every time he gets out there!
Ellyana Hyder (Softball) : Ellyana leads by example on how to be a good teammate. She is always eager to help her teammates when coaches are instructing others during practice and in between games. She is having an outstanding year on defense and at the plate.
Caden Baker (Boys Golf) : Caden won the IHSAA boys state preview at Prairie View winning by 3 strokes and tying the individual school record shooting -6 66!
Jace Trevino (B Track & Field): Jace ran in the Middle Distance Showcase at North Side High School and finished 3rd in the 800, but broke a 30 year old school record in the 800 running 1:52.19!
Unified Track & Field is a collaborative effort between the Indiana High School Athletic Association and Special Olympics Indiana. Our Unified Track team has won sectionals for the second year in a row! They then competed in Regionals on May 31st at Northwood coming in third and ADVANCING TO STATE! Our Unified Track team has had a phenomenal season this year, and we wish them good luck at State on June 7th!
Back to back sectional champions!
We are proud to report that our Men's Volleyball team beat Homestead's Cross-town rivals, Carroll, at Regionals. They beat Carroll 3-1 and were able to advnace to the Regional Championship! They unfortunately lost to Fishers in the Championship 0-3. We are so proud of our boys this season. They have had a phenomenal year and have grown so much as a team! We would like to congratulate the Seniors that will continue their volleyball career in college, and we hope to watch the underclassmen grow in next year's season.
Our Varsity Baseball team has hit the ground running this season, with a record of 12 wins and 2 losses so far. The team boasts an impressive roster of talented players. As a catcher, Johnnie Ankenbruck ranks first in the state for fielding percentage. Luke Neiswonger is currently leading the team in home runs, with a total of three. He also leads the team in batters struck out, having 37 strikeouts this season, ranking 9th in the state. Homestead's Varsity team were regional champions last year; we are excited to see if they can top that title this season!

Our softball team is advancing to the Sectional Championship this year! Beating South Side 18-2 in the first sectional game, the girls will be competing at Huntington North for the Sectional title! We wish them luck on their post-season endeavors!
Our girls tennis team is having a great season so far! During the week of April 21st, both the JV and Varsity won against Norwell and Bishop Luers. At their separate invitationals that Saturday, each team placed 5th. They will continue to play throughout May. On Saturday, May 3rd, they will be hosting an invitational at our own Jimmy Clark Tennis Complex. This is a great opportunity to show up for our girls and cheer them on!
Girls Varsity Tennis Team
The boys golf team is in action this season, and their performance has been impressive. In their opening weekend on April 19th, they placed 1st of 8 teams in the tournament at Northrop. They continued their winning streak with victories over Concordia and Warsaw, and again won the Lake Central Invitational, with Landon Snyder and Ryan Parker tying for 2nd place overall with a score of 73! May 22nd, 23rd, and 24th, they will participate in the Big Blue Cup, a three-day series against Homestead's longtime rivals, the Carroll Chargers. The Homestead golf team has won this event the last couple years, and we have faith that they will maintain this title again this year!
