Presidential Gold Medal for Service
The Hoby Youth Leadership Program believes that all students have the portential to lead. Their seminars bring students together across different backgrounds, cultures, and communities. They help students discover a newfound sense of awareness, confidence, connection, and purpose. Students leave Hoby with the knowledge ad passion needed to make a positive impact on the world around them.
Trent George (12) was the Homestead nomination to attend the HOBY Leadership Conference in June 2023. He was tasked to complete 100 volunteer service hours in his community. However, Trent completed an astounding 300 hours in a single year. Trent was awarded the Presidential Gold Medal for Service from the White House for his volunteer hours! Trent enjoyed his time at the HOBY conference and made several connections. He also used the skills he learned from HOBY to create the Youth Environmental Club of Northeast Indiana! Trent has many big ideas for our community and shows promise for the future.
SACS Superstar!
The SACS Education Foundation has created a new opportunity to honor SACS employees and would like your assistance. Students, community members, and colleagues can nominate a SACS employee who has gone above and beyond to impact our students. Any SACS employee can be nominated, including teachers, custodians, bus drivers, and nurses. If you see a staff member who excels at their duties and goes the extra mile to help others, nominate them for this award by scanning the QR code on the flier. SACS staff spends so much time doing their best to make the learning environment for students as good as possible, so it is our turn to show them appreciation by acknowledging the work of the individuals. Take some time to think about who you know is making a big difference and submit the application by the 15th of each month, where the nominated staff members have a chance to win $250.
