2022 Fall Honor Roll

Congratulations to the 982 students who earned the Homestead High School Honor Roll during their 2022-2023 Fall semester.  In order to be eligible for the honor roll, students must take a minimum of five credits. Students are eligible for the “Honor Roll” if they earned nothing lower than a “B-" in all courses for the 2022-2023 Fall semester. Students are eligible for the “Distinguished Honor Roll” (names in bold) if they earned nothing lower than an “A-“ in all courses for the 2022-2023 Fall semester. These students were recognized for their outstanding achievement during their lunch period in the cafeteria on Tuesday, February 28th, where they received an honor roll certificate and a special treat.

Taste of Homestead

One of Homestead's most beloved traditions is the Taste of Homestead event held every Spring. Taste of Homestead aims to showcase a variety of cultures from around the world in the most delicious way. Homestead students first pick a country to represent, then do research on the country and its culture. Lastly, students prepare a dish to share with the Homestead community! At the event, each group will set up a table with a poster displaying their research findings, then they will serve their dish to the event attendees. This year, Taste of Homestead will be on Wednesday, March 15th from 6-7:30 pm. Please see Mrs. Beckman or Sr. Peeper if you have any questions.

Digital Art Public Showcases

Spartan Visual Arts would like to announce that our Adv Photography and Adv Photo Digital students will have work on display at the Firefly Coffee House, 3523 N Anthony Blvd, all throughout the month of April. Students are hard at work creating amazing photos in preparation to share their talents with the city, and everyone is invited to have a cup of coffee or a nice treat and see the work of our advanced students.

Mr. Manco is looking for a couple of new parent volunteers who might be available to help with the many exciting shows coming up this semester. This is not a major commitment – just a few hours this Spring could help tremendously.

If interested, please contact Mr. Manco at dmanco@sacs.k12.in.us.

National Honors Society and Internship Program: Volunteer Hours

Attention all students who are involved in the National Honors Society or in Homestead's internship program! Remember to be completing your volunteer hours before the end of May. The end of the year will be here in the blink of an eye, and volunteer hours may begin to dwindle. Start getting those hours in, so they can be paced out over the course of the semester!

National Honors Society:   As a student in the National Honors Society, getting volunteer hours is crucial before the end of the year. A major opportunity here at Homestead is the ability to tutor your fellow peers! This is a great way to gain hours, and you can even choose to tutor during your study hall.  All you have to do is log your hours by submitting the google form after you complete your tutoring sessions. You can also contact the NHS board members for more information on various volunteer opportunities. All NHS members need 5 hours of non-affiliated volunteer work and 5 hours of NHS-affiliated hours.

Internship Program:  For any seniors involved in an internship second semester, be sure to be considering when and where you will be completing your 10 volunteer hours before the end of this semester.

Regardless of whether or not you are involved in the above programs, it is always good to complete volunteer hours. Volunteering is a great way to get involved and give back to the community. Volunteer hours look great on a resume, job application, or even a college application! Reach out to any local organization or a local event to get started.
