Homestead Construction Project Drone Update

Adjusting to the inconveniences of construction has become a new normal for students and faculty here at Homestead. Despite the difficulty, the Spartans have remained resilient and flexible throughout the challenges! However, the last few months of waiting are just now beginning to pay off as we see more progress being made to the new building. We look forward to many more years of learning for current and future Spartans as the construction project is underway.

Please watch these videos for a drone update on construction to see the new additions to our building!

National Assessment of Educational Progress

Seniors & Senior Parents,

Please read this letter from Assistant Principal Mrs. Hoeppner Regarding the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP).

There will be 50 Homestead Seniors randomly selected to participate in the grade 12 field test on March 29th, 2023.

Parking & Drop off/Pickup Reminders

As Homestead construction continues, things such as student drop-off and pick-up change. One of the changes for the 2022-23 school year is the requirement that our families use the Door 1 drop-off and pick-up turnaround.

In the mornings, we have found that the Spartan Turnaround (see map to the right) works quite well, and parents get through in less than 5 minutes (not including time on Homestead Road).

Parent Drop off/Pickup Map

In the afternoons, parents should go through this same Turnaround for student pick-up. Unfortunately, some of our neighboring businesses are seeing an uptick in afternoon parking (during after school pick-up). We kindly ask that you do not park in the lots of our neighboring businesses. Whether it be all day or for just 30 minutes to pick up your student from school, there should be no parking at the fire station, Saint Elizabeth Church, or Summit.

Not only does this after-school parking impede our neighbors from utilizing their own lots for their patrons, it causes some unsafe conditions when students cross the streets at non-crosswalk locations.

So, please, use the Homestead Turnaround (entering off of Homestead Road) to drop off and pick up your student. Thank you.

Your Next Flex Day is Friday, March 10th

Attention All Spartans! Homestead High School is having an eLearning Flex Day on Friday, March 10th. Students will be learning from home while our teachers receive professional development.

Flex Days provide Homestead teachers with time to attend valuable training sessions on a variety of topics, including the effective use of technology in the classroom, instructional methods and educational best practices.

Your assignments for the March 10th Flex Day will be posted no later than 7:10 a.m. on your Canvas Calendar. If you run into any technical issues, try these suggestions: eLearning Tech Tips

If you have tech issues that you cannot solve on your own during the Flex Day, please email your computer techs at: drybolt@sacs.k12.in.us  OR  jfritsch@sacs.k12.in.us  If a conversation would be the better way to seek technology help, you can call 431-2200 to talk to Ms. Rybolt and Ms. Fritsch.

Remember, to be counted present during a Flex Day you must complete all of your assignments posted to Canvas.

Your teachers will be in professional development training during the morning hours. They will be available to assist you from noon until 2:35 p.m.on Wednesday.

Please contact your teachers if you have any questions or need help doing your online assignments. If your teacher has not specified how to ask a question, send an email. They will be standing by to assist you, so don’t hesitate to reach out!

Give your Flex Day eLearning lessons your best effort and take advantage of the individual help that you can get from your teachers throughout the day.
