Two years after British archaeologist Howard Carter and his workmen discovered the tomb of the Pharaoh Tutankhamun near Luxor, Egypt. They uncovered the greatest treasure of the tomb, the stone sarcophagus containing a solid gold coffin that holds the mummy of Tutankhamun. Tutankhamun was buried in three layers of coffin, one of which was hewn into solid gold. That single coffin is estimated to be worth well over 1.2 million dollars. He was buried with an assortment of chariots, thrones, and jewelry.
