What Makes Sacred Heart School Distinctive?

Sacred Heart Catholic Primary School is a caring, compassionate community that welcomes everyone. Our children are at the centre of our school, community, and our Church. Christ is at the centre of our school community and guides all our decisions and helps us make the right choices. We strive to be a place of joy for all: so that the whole child is nurtured to grow in God’s love.

Our Catholic faith makes our school distinctive because faith is at the centre of our all of our learning and experiences. We believe that God created the world and all of us. Therefore, we should love God, love one another and care for the world that He created for us. We believe that God gave us all unique gifts and talents. Therefore, we should work hard to reach our full potential. We should always try our best. Therefore, we should make every second count and take every opportunity to learn and grow.

At Sacred Heart School, we help the children to understand and to live out this mission...

Love of God God is love. Through our value of love, we inspire the children to love God.

Love of One Another Children love one another as they wish to be loved, by living out the Gospel in their daily life and following in Jesus’ footsteps through their words and actions. Led by our House Council, children also show love for others by being active in their charity work. Our children regularly contribute to Southend Food Bank and St Vincent’s Centre, Southend. During the course of the year, they also raise funds for CAFOD and other chosen charities. The children respond to world disasters by collecting money and arranging donations and carry out various other acts of charity throughout the school year.

Love of our World At Sacred Heart School, we try to reflect that we are called to ensure not just our own happiness, but happiness of all God’s children. We are part of a wider community. Our concern for the Common Good, the wellbeing of all, and the protection of our planet, is essential. Led by our Eco-Council, our children work together to change the impact our school has on pollution, climate change, and water usage. We know that we must look after the Earth that God has given us – our Common Home.

Love of Learning Children learn to make the right choices in life – the Catholic Life of the School helps the children to grow spiritually and morally. The children also learn to make the right choices in their learning – using the many talents that God has given them to their full potential.
