I am a firm believer that arriving on time is an important life skill that is transferable to all areas of one's life. I hold the bar high for my students and expect them to arrive ready and on time for their classes.
The welcome bell rings at 8:26am at which time students will be able to enter the school. Attendance will be taken promptly at 8:30 - any students arriving after that will be marked as late.
I have the same expectation for my Digital Media Literacy students - to arrive on time and prepared for class.
Students who are regularly late to class may be asked to make up time during lunch recess.
Students will be dismissed at 2:33pm. This will give students a full 10 minutes to access their lockers before the first bus leaves.
Please ensure that your child is familiar with their pickup/bus routine.
In alignment with school culture and ministry mandates, our class will have a strict no phone/personal device policy.
Students will be asked to keep their phones in their lockers on silent mode AT ALL TIMES.
At this grade level, students can expect regular homework. Most homework will primarily be completion of assignments and studying/practice for quizzes and tests. If using their class time wisely and staying on top of their work, students shouldn't have to spend more than about one hour to complete daily homework. If you find your child is spending more time than this, please inform me so that we can discuss possible reasons and/or solutions. Many students will manage to complete most assignments during the class time allotted.
Students will have the opportunity to engage in Physical Health and Education 3 times per week. Students will be expected to bring PE strip to change into. However, if a student comes to school wearing appropriate PE attire (athletic wear and runners), they will not be obligated to change.
Students may also want to bring deodorant to put into their gym locker.
Each week the website will be updated with what we are doing along with due dates for all of our classes and assignments. Students and their families are expected to check their class page using the homepage or navigation bar at the top of this website to stay on track and up to date.
