Teachers will communicate with the class four times per day, not just once in the morning (see timetable).
Class teachers in Years 3 to 6 to finish the day with a class meeting in Teams. Final Microsoft Teams session for the Prep to Year 2 staff will be after lunch, just prior to investigations.
Teachers will need to teach online an explicit Numeracy and an explicit Literacy lesson each day from Monday to Thursday:
Teachers to teach a 30-minute lesson in Numeracy, followed by an activity for the students to complete (teacher to remain available ‘online’ during the numeracy activity for any student questions or guidance).
Teachers to teach a 30-minute lesson in Literacy, followed by an activity for the students to complete (teacher to remain available ‘online’ during the literacy activity for any student questions or guidance).
Teachers to be available from 8.45am to 3.00pm for students to contact them via Microsoft Teams or email if the student needs support or questions answered. Teachers will need to regularly check these two platforms during the day to respond to student requests.
Year groups to identify activities for students to complete to create less screen time.
e.g. maybe a HASS or Science unit can be set as a project for assessment
Teachers to post home or email (for parents to print out) worksheets or tasks for the children to complete. This needs to be consistent for the year level in terms of what is sent and also the format.
Each day, class teachers need to indicate an approximate time for each activity to be completed.
Teachers need to indicate if the task or activity is ‘compulsory’ or ‘optional’.
On Fridays, teachers will set activities for the children, but there is no explicit teaching of Literacy and Numeracy. The teacher will still start off the day with the live ‘tune in session’ and sets the tasks for the day. Students can also use this day to catch up on any work missed during the week.
Every Friday, each classroom teacher will contact every child in their class for a ‘check in’ to see how they have been going in the week and to answer any of their questions.
Yes. Specialist teachers will be posting activities onto the Seesaw school library to relevant grades. Classroom teachers will then post these activities to students. When specialist lessons are provided, specialist teachers follow up with feedback to the students once the work is completed.
Yes. The Teacher Librarians and library staff will be posting activities to the Seesaw school library.
Teachers may use this time to plan lessons, mark student work, provide electronic feedback or collaborate electronically with colleagues. Please ensure that you have a regular year level Microsoft Teams meeting and that you invite Ben Dean or Cath Green as relevant.
It is essential that all students receive the same opportunities with regards to learning. Year level teams will coordinate the learning, in conjunction with the Head and Deputy Heads of Primary. It is the expectation that teachers will engage in relevant dialogue around their learning intentions, as would be the case under normal circumstances.
This would depend on the length of the closure and the age of the students. Where possible, you will mark work electronically. It is intended that you will be able to provide feedback via Seesaw.
Yes. Where possible, it is expected that work will be marked. The only difference will be an increase in electronic marking. There are many opportunities for this to be done effectively via Seesaw. Parents could also be asked to spend time talking with their child during the day, about their learning.
It is important that all teachers contact their Deputy Head of Primary if there is any reason that they cannot provide learning activities to their students.
If a student’s work cannot be provided, teachers should communicate with parents to enquire whether there are any difficulties with:
their accessing of online resources
health concerns that are preventing them from being present for lessons.
Yes.
The College will be guided by the advice of Queensland Health, the Australian Government and the Principal.

It is essential that all students within a subject and year level receive the same opportunities with regards to online teaching and learning. Heads of Faculty and members of the Teaching and Learning Team will routinely check in with you about your teaching and learning through Canvas and through your Microsoft Teams recordings. These check ins will occur through Team Meetings and individual catch ups.
We are not expecting live conferencing outside of your subject’s scheduled lesson times; however, students can seek and obtain assistance and clarification from you. Teachers should respond in a timely manner.
Tutoring will be done through Microsoft Teams as per the tutoring timetable. Tutoring is an integral part of teaching and learning at St Andrew’s. Rosters will be compiled, and Microsoft Teams Tutoring will be set up in faculties.
Through attendance of Microsoft Teams live.
Through Analytics in Canvas.
Through setting of Canvas tasks that will establish engagement. (Grant Harbor will be presenting training workshops on these opportunities).
Assignments
The most important point that has not changed in moving online is the submission of summative assignments. All assignments (drafts and final copy) assigned to students through Canvas are to be completed for online submission exactly as before the impact of COVID-19. Students who do not submit, or are late to submit, drafts and/or final copy for online summative tasks will be addressed as per the College's Assessment Policy and procedures.
Until we return to face-to-face learning, most summative tasks will become assignments.
Live online assessment
There are no exams at school till further notice.
Years 7 to 11:
live online assessment is to be used where appropriate to provide students with exam-like conditions. Assistance is available from your Head of Faculty and Director of Studies regarding how to conduct such a task.
Any questions about assessment should be emailed to the Director of Studies, Mr David Elley, on delley@saac.qld.edu.au.
Assessment Calendars

Any teacher concerned about the potential to appropriately complete summative assessment must seek advice from the Head of Faculty and Director of Studies.
Year 11 students must be provided the opportunity to complete work related to Unit 1 and/or Unit 2 for eligibility to be judged as Satisfactory or Unsatisfactory.
Yes. The only difference will be an increase in electronic marking and feedback. There are many opportunities for this to be done effectively and efficiently via Canvas.
Lessons and resources must be provided for all subjects. This includes the subjects with practical components and requirements in their standard coursework. Adjustments must be made by the Head of Faculty and the classroom teacher to ensure learning continues in these subjects, albeit potentially with no capacity to address practical tasks until a closure is lifted. Advice on how to address work in such subjects can be sought from the Head of Faculty and Director of Studies.
The usual differentiation of lesson activities should occur.
Yes.
The College will be guided by the advice of Queensland Health, the Australian Government and the Principal.
Our expectations of student behaviour online is the same as our expectations of them in the physical classroom. Students are expected to demonstrate our College values.
As per normal procedure, the classroom teacher should continue to manage student behaviour in their online classrooms as they would in their physical classroom. If you notice any patterns of behaviour, this should be sent through to the Head of Year.
